The hard economy has affected many in our nation, including the small town of Edenton, NC.My family and I are part of this community.
Edenton has a summer league baseball team that they represent named The Steamers. This baseball team consist of college baseball players from all over who are invited to play on a summer team. These players are housed and taken care of by residents of the area they are playing for the summer. They go around to different areas and play against those who are doing the same thing to make up these teams. The Steamers are in a financial struggle to be able to continue this for next year. The Steamers were not able to get enough sponsors for this year, so they have to raise $50,000 to be able to have a league next year. We have gone to the last few games to help support our Steamers as they battled Morehead City in the playoffs. Between innings kids participate in races and small competitions that are set up by staff members. My youngest son, Luke, chose to participate in the crab walk race to win a discount on Lawn care. In this race the kids have to use their feet and hands while looking up to the sky and crawl backwards as fast as you can to the finish line. Luke won. He gave the little boy he was racing the prize. Luke told him that he could have the prize because he liked to cut his own grass. Noah and Luke also entered a Frisbee contest. They had small Frisbees that they had to thrown in a hoop or the closest one wins. The prize was half of the money that was earned for the contest- 50/50 jackpot. Each Frisbee cost $2 and the kids wrote their names on a piece of tape on the bottom of the Frisbees.

Romans 7:18-25 .“18 And I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. I want to so what is right , but I can’t. 19 I want to do what is good, but I don’t. I don’t want to do what is wrong, but I do it anyway. 20But if I do what I don’t want to do, I am not really the one doing wrong; it is the sin living in me that does it. 21 I have discovered this principle of life-that when I want to do what is right , I inevitably do what is wrong. 22 I love God’s law with all my heart. 23 But there is another power within me that is at war with my mind. This power makes me a slave to the sin that is still within me. 24Oh, what a miserable person I am! Who will free me from this life that is dominated by sin and death? 25 Thank God! The answer is in Jesus Christ our Lord. So you see how it is: In my mind I really want to obey God’s law, but because of my sinful nature I am a slave to sin.” ….. Paul is very frustrated with himself because of his sinful nature.

Our 2010 Daily Lily Retreat, Designs of One’s Heart, was an amazing experience. Sara did a beautiful job teaching, showing and instructing her Lilies how to design their hearts. We all worked very hard each day to grasp what Sara was teaching. Needles did a beautiful job instructing us about how the human heart works. Debi and MG were amazing playing their guitar and piano. Rena was amazing. She fixed the toilet, the lawnmower and she prayed a powerful prayer over me using her beautiful intercessory gift. Each lily played a vital role in this life changing retreat. Each lily opened their minds and hearts to the Holy Spirit and amazing knowledge and wisdom fell from their lips. The fragrance of the words brought joy to my mind, heart and spirit. One particular day of our retreat, Sara spoke to us about the Garden of Renown. For homework we were to write about our Garden’s. As I was studying this homework assignment, the Lord placed something on my heart that I would like to share…

I pray for excellent teachers of character and grace for our personal communities, our Nation, the USA and the Nations of the World. I pray for our school system and all that enter her halls. I think of the children in war torn nations that are going to school but danger of life linger over their lives; Dear Heavenly Father, may safety of heavenly angels hover over theirs bodies, minds and spirits.

“No one cuts up a fine silk scarf to patch old work clothes; you want fabrics that match. And you don’t put wine in old, cracked bottles; you get strong, clean bottles for your fresh vintage wine. And no one who has ever tasted fine aged wine prefers unaged wine.” Luke 5:36-39 Message
