Fashion Show-Barbara

Friday, August 20th, 2010

I love fashion and dressing up! Dressing up is what we called fashion when Barbara and I were teens. My teen friend, Barbara, and I had a little fashion show and entertained our dailylily.com friends. What a blast! No Starbuck coffee or Barbara ice tea. Just cold water and that was the drink to beat the heat! She even knows how to make that taste just right. You go girl!

We sure missed Needles (Tammy) and Chickenfarmer (Wendy) but, they were riding roller coasters at Busch Gardens with their boys. I invite you now just click and enjoy the show with my friend, Barbara.

Fig Tree Study

Thursday, July 16th, 2009

“He who tends a fig tree will eat its fruit, and he who looks after his master will be honored. ” (Proverbs 27:18)

I have two little figs on my fig tree in Virginia. Not many! I feel sad seeing only two little green figs on a tree with lots of green leaves. I have just been in NC where I always seem to have found a fig tree and figs flourishing when I was growing up. But in the more recent years not so many. People have said, “lack of rain or no care takers.”

Lavender

Monday, July 13th, 2009

This is my lavender plant. I am thrilled with its size and beauty. The bees must be also because they won’t leave it alone. I saw a moth flying nearby also. I’m not sure what variety my lavender is since I planted it last summer and must have discarded the tag. It may be either Munstead or Hidcote. It stayed fairly small and did not bloom last year probably because I planted it later in the summer. It overwintered well and really took off growing this year, perhaps because we had such good spring rains.

My Thoughts on gardening

Friday, June 27th, 2008

“The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” Isaiah 58:11

Gardening is for souls that are home-bound to the
soil of the land.
Being good stewards of God’s earth and all its resources.

Frankfurt and Amsterdam 2008

Friday, April 25th, 2008

Chris and Tammy have just returned from the tulip fields of Holland. For the ones of us that are just seeing the beginnings of spring and planning of our gardens, or the ones of us, like myself, that only dreams about gardens we might enjoy Chris and Tammy’s photos. Looking at the beauty of the fields in Holland makes one wonder could heaven be any more beautiful. Yet, I believe it must be.

Is Doubt Benefical

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

I’ve always thought of “doubt” as a BIG NEGATIVE. It is true that doubt
can “nullify your prayers, make you lose your witness”, according to the
sermon I heard at church this past Sunday. This sermon gave some “twist of
thought”, for me to feed on. The minister used the scripture reading in
Luke1:5-25. We can read in verse 18, that even Zechariah doubted. The
minister said that sometimes, doubt is beneficial for those of us who seek
truth. He said that “doubt is benefical, if it causes us to investigate the
facts.” “If we don’t doubt some things, we will eventually be lead astray.”
(Matt. 24:4) He gave us two steps to overcome doubt: 1) examine the evidence
(by researching God’s Word) 2)determine that you are going to obey the
results of your research (obeying God’s Word) Wow, what a change in my
perspective on the word “doubt”.

Our Thanksgiving

Saturday, November 25th, 2006

Last night I gave my two sons a piece of paper and pen/pencil. I asked them
to write three things they were thankful for. One wrote:1)food 2)family 3)
electricity, the other wrote 1)mom 2)dad and 3) brother. Now I had to write
my three things as well:1)my family 2) my health 3) a place to live. I began
to think on this and yes, I am thankful for all of these things, but we have
many blessings to be thankful for. This song is truly a great
blessing:
“Amazing Grace, how sweet
the sound, that saved a WRETCH
like me. I once was lost, but
now I’m found, was blind, but
now I see.”

God so freely offers this grace to everyone who will receive. May we all be
thankful this season, for His Grace! (more…)

My son, God’s Son

Wednesday, November 15th, 2006

Monday afternoon, my son, Nathaniel, was very adamant about going in the attic. I asked him what did he need in the attic. He said, “oh, I just need to get something.” No matter what I said, it was obvious that he was going to be persistent, about getting in the attic, so I allowed him to go. While in the attic, he noticed the Christmas stuff, and asked if we could put the Christmas tree up. Well, I explained that it is a little early for that, since we haven’t even had Thanksgiving yet, and he was agreeable. Yet, he continued to look around at the Christmas boxes, and noticed the little Nativity box. He said, “Oh, mama, can I put the Nativity scene out?” I thought to myself, “it is never too early to remember the baby Jesus’s birth.” I said, “Of course, you can!” He so excitedly brought it down out of the attic, and I a (more…)

LOVE YA

Thursday, November 2nd, 2006

One morning you will never wake up.
Do all your friends know you love them?
I was thinking…I could die today,
tomorrow or next week,
and I wondered if I had any wounds needing to be healed,
friendships that needed rekindling or three words needing to be said.
Let every one of your friends know you love them.
Even if you think they don’t love you back,
you would be amazed at what those three little words and a smile can do.
And just in case GOD calls me home before I see you again…….
I LOVE YA!!!

Headlines: Oprah Gives Audience Members Debit Cards

Monday, October 30th, 2006

Oprah Winfrey has famously given members of her audience new cars, paid off their debts and fulfilled their wildest dreams. Now she’s given them what she calls the “gift of giving back.”
On a show that aired Monday, Winfrey gave more than 300 audience members $1,000 debit cards sponsored by the Bank of America to donate to a charitable cause. Winfrey called the show her “favorite giveaway ever.”

“I can honestly say that every gift I’ve ever given has brought at least as much happiness to me as it has to the person I’ve given it to,” the 52-year-old talk-show host said. “That’s the feeling I want to pass on to you.”

People can give the entire sum to one person _ relatives aren’t eligible _ or they can split it among charitable causes. Audience members also received a DVD recorder to tape their stories for a future show.

“You’re going to open your (more…)
